Hi Janell -

I just make up my own exercises, based on the Clarke 2nd Tech. Study. (Sometimes it can take me quite a long time to get the proper focus between low C and low F#, especially if I've played a bunch of lead the night before.)

I do the exercise as written first, then I tongue it, and finally wind up double-tonguing (sixteenths rather than eights).

Also, just basic long tones (in that register) help me find those slots.

Whenever I can't find an exercise in a book that's helpful, I try to make something up based on that particular weakness.
