I believe you'll find that the Jupiter flugels (as well as other trumpet-family horns) changed in and around or about 1995 or so. I picked up a new 846L in 1999 and it is really a nice horn for very little $$. Still works fine although I did have one particular QC issue... when the holes were drilled through for the water keys they left a bit of a burr on the inside of the tubing which prevented good drainage. A very careful "reaming" with just the slightest oversize drill bit took care of that issue and the horn has been fine ever since. NO valve problems.
