Nick-

Carrying 3-4 horns in a gig bag on your back, and maybe even adding a case in your hand is still much easier than carrying a double bass up and down all the stairs in the subway system, around hundreds of people moving the opposite direction, and trying to get onto a crowded train with everyone glaring at you!
