Sorry for the delay Janell and Tal,
I'm new to the forum workings.
I actually never studied with Art, just hung with him and sat in on his gigs on occasion. He played my recordings of Freddie Webster and Joe Wilder the one time I hung at his place in Austria. He was always practicing new things and learning new tunes. A very inspiring person to be around. Thank you for all of your kind words Janell, I don't know exactly how to answer all of your questions, the process is very involved. I know that when I got serious about my sound and my time that alot of my ideas flowed out of the horn alpt easier. THe more I play with good,listening players, the easier it is to get to the good stuff as well. I do have his book, it inspired me to really integrate the music (I need to learn and shed) into my routine. My lessons on my site go into depth on this.
