I'm using the line 6 delay and wah as well as the holy grail reverb unit and a volume pedal. I love the toys (in moderation), especially the loop on the delay modeler. I'm still new to all of it and want to figure out how to get things streamlined into a laptop or something more compact and light to carry.The stuff gets heavy on the road.
I use an audio technica clip-on mic to channel the effects so that I can keep things separate from my dry mic-usually an AKG 414 or a TLM 170. I really avoided the electronic zone for a long time because I was worried about falling into the trap of not 'playing the horn to it's fullest' and thus relying on the effects to sound good. I am still convinced that the more control from intensive chop development (a fancy way of saying practice!) I get,the more the inflections and expressions can be enhanced by the electronics. I have also had alot of fun looping things and improvising off of my own ideas- why not? |
