I am very Sad to see the news about Burt Collins. . . (all-be-it late) my very first Play-a-Long Vinyl disc was one called Little Jazz Duets featuring Burt Collins playing both traks (Music Minus One) back in 1974-5?
He was definitely a Player with a Big Focused sound! Nice guy too from what I've heard other players say about him.
