Bartok 2nd Piano Concerto. We're doing the 3rd this week, which also has its moments.
I second the aforementioned concertos by Berg, Ravel and Prokofiev.
Chopin 1st- I'm not a fan of the piece at all - the 3rd mvt sounds like it's in the wrong octave, hanging up on high Bs throughout.
Love the Barber Violin Concerto.
Ginastera Harp Concerto?
Prokofiev Sinfonia Concertante
Adler Horn Concerto
Adams Violin Concerto
The list goes on and on.
There are some really hairy moments in these pieces, which *never* get covered in school. |
