| Re: E flat Flugelhorn for Mahler's third posthorn solo Do people tend to play the posthorn solo on a smaller (Eb, D, etc.) horn to alleviate some of the physical strain of the passage or to replicate the sound of an old posthorn? I have never had to perform the solo and don't quite understand why it isn't usually played on a Bb or C trumpet.
