When he comes down front to do solos on the ballads, he is still big and fat on the ballads.

Listen to "Warm Velvet" on the "Swing Shift" CD, a tune written for him by Allyn Ferguson. Great ballad work, then listen to "Four For Basie" on the same CD. All four trumpet players take 24 bars up tempo.
