The only thing I've seen that could create a problem with a Recording was the joint where the leadpipe connects to the mouthpiece receiver. You normally will get a 'ridge' where the receiver fits over the leadpipe, that is what creates the MP gap on the horn. Certainly on my Recording(Jan '61) that ridge if very thin and was very difficult to measure when I was with Brian Scriver from GR getting out of mouthpiece Hell. I think I have seen other postings and discussions about this on Recordings.

But on my Recording I have used Bach 1 1/2, 3, 5, 7, Monette B4 and now a GR 65.6 with NO problem. The best is the GR, but that is the same on all of my horns, it's the MP not the horn!
