My advice would be to do the modification to a back up mouthpiece-that way you haven't ruined your main mouthpiece if you don't like the change. I would also say that going from a 27 to 24 is a big change-try somewhere in the middle first. It usually takes a couple of days to adjust to the change in throat size, so play it for a few days before you make up your mind. best of luck!
