Mouthpiece size has never added one note to my range. Here are a couple combinations from the last 30 years:
Bach 1 1/2C / 10 1/2E, Schilke 18 / 14a4a, Monette B2 / BL / B4L.
As Tony said, the sound and effort changes dramatically. That is the reason for using the correct tool for the job!
