Re: A little help with Monette sizing

Keep in mind that the Monette mouthpieces follow a different basic concept. The octaves are a little further apart meaning that you have to relax - especially in the high register. If you keep switching back and forth, you will probably not use either mouthpiece to its full advantage. There is no voodoo here, just a different mathematical base.
If you dig the sound, it is worth it, but then stop playing the other one for 6 months. A great suggestion I remember reading here at TM was to put the old mouthpiece in a plastic cup, fill it with water and put it in the freezer. The effort involved in defrosting it will limit the temptation to confuse your face by switching! After 6 months, defrost and try the old piece. You will then know for sure which is better!
