Stavinsky Octet "a" part on "A" trumpet

Wacky question...

Have any of you actually performed the second Trumpet part in A before? I would imagine Stravinsky wrote the 2nd part in A to achieve a greater tonal difference between the "brighter" C and "darker" A part.

I've played it before on Bb but not on A. I have two good older horns that play REALLY well in A. (it's not a horn/transposition issue: I can transpose just fine and have a 65G Bach that will be super dark).

Any thoughts?

Cheers,

T
