Everybody,

On this sad day I wanted to offer something pleasant.

Today, at my boy's school, the '07 baseball season started. He missed a chance to try for varsity because he wasn't able to go on a "spring training" trip with the others in Florida. So, he's happy to play on JV until something opens up on Varsity if it does.

At ay rate they played today and the Breck Mustangs won 5-1 behind the two-hit pitching of M. Laureano. The real story is that they played a seven inning game against Blake School, an old rival, and the kid pitched a helluva game: 18 strikeouts.

I couldn't friggin' believe it. After a rocky first inning he got it together and just pitched his heart out. He mixed the fastball, change, and curve for the win. I called his grandparents afterward.

So, I thought it would be fun to start a thread about youth baseball and encourage whomever wished to write in and let us know about baseball and softball games involving the young ones in our lives.

If you want to get serious about it, though, the place to be is MJ's baseball site. Otherwise I thought this would be a nice place for news about our kids.
