I think I remember reading that Schilke believed in having no gap between the end of the shank and the leadpipe inside the reciever. I don't know if that works or not, but maybe the combination of a slightly different shank design and an old worn reciever might make the mouthpiece bottom out. I had the same problem with a brand new Schilke trumpet mouthpiece on an old Bach Bb.
A good repair tech might be able to tell you if a new reciever would help and it may be possible to find a new one even for a horn that old. If you're in or near Colorado, you might try Flesher-Hinton music. No guarantee, but they have a very large parts inventory.
