When reporters and mic jockeys on TV use incorrect terms to describe things they know nothing about, it drives me nuts!
Someone can say "nappy" and get fired. Another can say the "fa__" word and be called homophobic.
My rant here is about a totally different situation, but one that still upsets those of us who understand these things . . . and makes me thing those reporting this story are both ignorant and ill-informed.
My gripe is the word "clip" being used by reporters when talking about "magazines" used in firearms. These two items are NOT the same thing!
Clips are simple little metal holders of rifle or revolver rounds. Magazines are totally different; enclosing the ammo, keeping it clean and then using their springs to force the ammo up, and out of the magazine and into the chamber . . .
According to reporters tonight, the VT killer bought "clips" for his .22 on ebay. That .22 pistol doesn't use clips, it uses magazines.
