Hey all! You're welcome James-Great input and insights all! thanks so much- I'm stealing ideas from all of it.
Not sure what's left to add except long tones, long tones and more long tones...as creatively as possible. I relate all of my notes to everything possible from horns honking outside my window to modes,intervals, chords, voicings,rhythms,loud-soft, air attack,tongue attack, you name it! If your mouthpiece choice doesn't consistantly allow all of your ideas to flow (in relation to really hearing them-see above) then there might just be something better out there for you OR your student.
