If folks have not already, Zen and the Art of Archery by Eugen Herrigel.

Also, The Musical Temperament : Psychology and Personality of

Musicians by Anthony E. Kemp ; Art and Fear: Observations on the Perils

(and Rewards) of Artmaking by David Bayles and Ted Orland; Strasberg -

At the Actor's Studio (Tape-recorded sessions) Edited by Robert H.

Hethman; Composers on Music: Eight Centuries of Writings-

Morgenstern's Anthology Edited by Josiah Fisk; ACTING: The First Six

Lessons by Richard Boleslavsky. The first publication of this book was in 1933. (Just read the first few pages and you will understand why I suggested it.)

If none of these floats anyone's boat, I suggest reading books on your favorite composers. I have read tons of books on Mahler and Stravinksy. It is fun, informative and eye-opening to find out who these composers were as people.
