| Re: What a great place to hang out! Tom Mac, thanks for the welcome. I played for a short while on a Yamaha student model and am fortunate to have a very encouraging friend who used to play professionally. He made a gift of his first pro horn: a mid-1970's Schilke B5. Having played as a kid for 10 years on a Huttl and a very old French Besson with cranky valves, I can't believe how much nicer a good horn can make things.
When I was younger I played community and school concert band and for two years in an orchestra and brass quintet in a school in England (my dad was in the CAF). Now I have to tell you, my young teacher has me cranked about jazz and latin. I've also discovered playing big band material is great. My young friend has also introduced me to piano as well and I'd like to play jazz and classical. Frankly, I'll play anything as long as it isn't golf. |
