| Re: Things I learned at work yesterday It seems there is always a chasm between what the police understand the law to be and what people think the law is. Also, where the police sometimes think they know the facts they can be caught as in the above situation. I think 40 cal. has it right that when you are directed by an officer of the law to stop you are obliged to stop (regardless of what you do or don't think you are doing.....your car may be on fire).
I do, however, advise women, that should they be alone and stopped they require a good long look at the police credentials before they open the door or even roll down the window. If they are even in the least bit suspicious, I recommend a cell phone call to either 911 or some designated non-emergency number. Better safe than sorry.
