That is amazing... even moreso that the prediction was so close to the actual.
I wish I had a copy of the video that we made doing a "bird ingestion" test on a fan jet; we used guinea fowl fired from an air cannon into a running engine (JT 15D4..used on Citation II) and an ultra-high speed camera.
Those titanium fan blades waved like ripe wheat in the wind. They sheared off the inlet temperature sensor but kept right on spinning! |
