| Re: Why did Pops switch to trumpet? I believe I read that answer had something to do with the "invention" of recording (abeit rather primitive) and the need for the soloist to be heard. A trumpet projected much better than a cornet; even the cornet with the C-cup mouthpiece which the trumpet effectively replaced at the time.
I'm sure someone can chime in and provide the right reference however.
