Re: Wilmer, Talk about "shakes & rips"

When I think of shakes, I think the Basie band. Shakes are usually whole steps. Fifth line F is a good starting point. Play a sustained mezzo-forte F, then ever so slowly start to gently wave that okay sign. The shake/trill should come easily. Remember.......keep a light grip on the horn and move the wrist.
I hope that's clear.
Listen the lots of Basie, Snookie and Jonesy wrote the book on shakes.
