Haven't posted, cause I've been practicin'.........riiiiiight
So, I started back down the road in September and, all y'all sit down, got my lead spot in the funk band last week that started all this. Scared to death to sit in and play, but finally got dragged down the path and with the help of a kick butt tenor sax player & a good keyboard/trumpet player, I made it thru the first time I've played with a small band in 30 years. Half way thru a 3 hour session, it really started kicking in! Got the nod to come back next week from the leader and a list of songs to work up. PLUS be ready to play for real on two nights the next week.....GEEZ! Pressure!
Oh yeah.....started in a second community concert band also.....sooo, with 3 trumpets, one cornet, and 3 bands, looks like Chuck has made it back over the hill. And the music reading thing.....ain't that bad anymore, funny how it works when you ACTUALLY count in your head as you play. Except for that big band music we're playing.....that stuff just came out the bell all by itself
