| Re: Gold Finish on Getzen Genesis Actually not. Gold has been a popular option on Edwards for a while. Somehow, they managed to not suffer the plating problems we did. The best we can figure it that since their horns were plated as components (i.e. bells, valve sections, slides, etc...) the plating was thicker and more uniform. This is because, as it is explained to me, the size of the item being plated in relation to the tank size has a dramatic effect on how the plating forms on the surface. That's why, while they would fit in our current tank, we don't gold plate trombone bells here. They are just too big for the ratio of solution to surface area to work in our favor.
