That is a *huge* change, so no wonder your range has been affected.

and my own experience,
the 3C you used to play had the cup depth of a Bach 7E.
The Schilke 17d4 is like a Bach 7B, but the Bach has a liitle bit more of a "V" shape while the Schilke has more of a cup shape, giving the Schilke a fuller sound but much harder upper register.

To put it in Schilke terms, you have just moved from a Schilke "A" cup to a Schilke "D" cup.

And the change in rim contour is just as dramatic, from the round rim of the Bach 3C to the wide flat Schilke "A" rim.

So I guess we can expect no double C's from you for the next few weeks, just that annoyingly full, rich sound that some trumpet players prefer
