| Re: Transcriptions! Again I feel as if I'm a dissenting voice here. I looked at Roy Eldridge's Rockin' Chair transcription, certainly one of the all time great trumpet solos. I found it riddled with inaccuracies, missing a tremendous amount of detail that I would consider essential. Don't trust anyone else's transcriptions. The only way you get any value out of them is if you do them yourself. Even if it's a solo that's famous. Do it yourself. Five Charlie Parker solos you learn yourself is much more valuable than 100 you learn out of a book and if the book is the Omnibook none of those are worthwhile.
