the only reason I add the line about checking with a (hopefully) correct version is that I remember a number of light-bulb moments when I was about to give up on a solo I was learning. If the book is right, and you happen to be lifting the solo from the wrong beat, or just NOT hearing the idea that you have repeated over and over, it can give you the boost needed to actually finish the solo. Kind of like cheating a bit on a crossword puzzle- you sneak a peak at the final draft and the one word you just couldn't get opens up the whole puzzle and again (a very important point) you can finish the puzzle and move on. The amazing slow downer is a good tool as well. Speakin of slowing down, I'm wiped after yesterday- Night all... |
