Re: Monette Mouthpiece Question! Please Help?

I recently purchased a Monette B2S3 and I use it on my B-flat horns (Flip Oakes Wild Thing and Bach Strad 43). It works nicely, but it's taking some transition time for me. Your transition should be easier if you're playing a 1 1/4 C already. I'm making the switch from a Schilke 14a4a, so I sometimes feel like I'm blowing in to a cereal bowl; however, I'm gaining range (catching up to where I was on the Schilke) and the tone that I get is definitely better. I thought I read a previous thread on this site wherein somebody said that you can contact a dealer, such as Dillon's music, leave a deposit on your credit card, and have them ship you a few Monette's so that you can discern what's the best one for you. You keep the one that's the best fit for you and ship the others back. That might be a good route to go since the Monettes aren't cheap (a little north of $200 for non-Prana, if I recall). I probably should have gone that route. For now, I'm forcing myself to acclimate to what I bought; however, in the end, I think that it's going to prove to be a nice MP for me.

Best of luck,
Mike
