| Re: Most important Man, folks, I'm with Manny on this one. When it comes to excelling, some folks can work harder than anyone else and only go so far. This is intuitive - we all know it to be true. It's true in a lot of areas of life. We also know that there are those folks that are "overachievers" but they'll never get as far as one who is gifted in music and also passionately pursues excellence in music/trumpet playing. Some of us who love the horn and work hard become pretty good but we don't have the "talent" to go clear to the top. You may disagree - but I'll never agree with thoughts to the contrary (call me stubborn). That doesn't mean I don't have great admiration for the "overachievers" of the world. I also don't mean to discourage them. But....if we're discussing what it takes to just "play" the trumpet - then lots of heart, some basic physical skills, lots of hard work and some equipment is it. But....to really be a "player" at the upper levels of the profession, you must work extremely hard - and have "talent" (and a trumpet to play helps!).
