| Re: Stork “Pumped Up” I have tried many Stork mouthpieces, both regular B,C and D cups and also their coresponding "pump up" versions. The pumping process openes up the V-shape into more of a C-shape (or U-shape). It tends to darken the sound, according to Phyllis Stork, by slowing down the air. I don't know why the sound darkens, but in fact, it does. Overall I feel it adds volume to the cup. I've always liked Stork mouthpieces, but they never seemed right for me in an orchestra, but they are fun to play. I'm basically married to my Parke-Merkelo piece. |
