Hello all,
Just to formally introduce myself. I am Josh Landress. I am a trumpet maker and brass repair technician here in New York City. Some of you may know me from my shop on 48th Street in the back of Sam Ash, but many of you do not.
I started my craft at age 12 working in a shop in Florida with a well known maker. I am a classically trained horn player and spent 3 years in the Marine Band also working as a repairman in many shops wherever I was stationed. I have been in New York a little over 5 years, heading up Sam Ash Music's brass repair and run a custom shop in Times Square where I hand make trumpets and trombones the old way... entirely by hand using seamed tubes. I also do factory consulting and instrument design, having worked on 3 continents.
I will be posting here quite frequently and will try to help answer any questions that arise here on the boards.
