I'm disappointed by the way people are constantly being compared in contemporary society (is LeBron as good as Michael was at the same point in his career?, etc.) but I've always felt that Maurice had few, if any, peers as an orchestral trumpeter. . . a Hersethlike presence onstage (there, I did it too. Bad EC).


This is just idle chit-chat by young folks who never saw the likes of a
Connie Hawkins or a Julius Erving.
In my world,basketball is synonymous with jazz and LeBron is a young turk
gaining acceptance and not yet a complete player like Scotty Pippin.
Michael J was in the Lee Morgan /Freddie Hubbard class and that's the class
that cooked with high heat and those who looked into the pot got burned.

I'm sure the former starting power forward from Barrett Junior High School in South Philadelphia would concur with my analogy
