Dear Annie:
Please don't reach for your gun.
The only silly question is the one NOT asked.
Since some of my best friends are musicians, over the last 45 years,I've learned from them that "it's a calling" i.e; they have dedicated their life/career to making and/or playing music to communicate with us mortals
so our soul's can be enriched.
In my honest opinion, music can be a beautiful metaphor to guide one through their everyday life.
By the way, there is a recording titled "THE CALLING' by Richard Boulger that
I'm sure you will enjoy.
Happy listening and remember to get to CARNEGIE HALL one must practise, practise, practise.

Side bar: Hank Mobley is the cat who gave us "NO ROOM FOR SQUARES."
