| Re: Being a Professional Musician I'll agree with everyone else by saying it's a love kind of thing, and love can be dangerous sometimes. If we really love the trumpet, love making music, love being just a part of the ensemble, love the challenges and the contentment of mastering new techniques so much that it is all we want to do is to make music; that is a good thing. If we love the applause, love playing louder, higher, faster and making more money than the guy next to us so much that it is all we want to do; that is not a good thing. If we are willing to make music our life, it can make us a living. If making a living is more important to us; if the applause and ego-stroking is the payoff, then a career in music will be nothing but one disappointment after another.
Have fun!
