Re: Monette Mouthpiece Question! Please Help?

I used to play the Bach 1 1/4 then went to a Schilke 18 and then to the B2. Each change was without pain or transition issues. I just put the mouthpiece in and "never looked back".
Switching to the Monette did make me aware of some unresolved body issues. Some days the high register was incredibly easy and other days just "normal". Learning to relax more when playing helped a lot!
I got a lot of complements about the sound having more core. Sound was never the issue, I switched only because I felt that it was easier to play.

Rio,
I am sure that you are getting tired because you are trying to get the same sound and note placement that you had with your Reeves out of the Monette. The rim size has NOTHING to do with the playing characteristics that you describe.
My first recommendation is to read the pages on body use at the Monette website. I have had students with the exact same problem that you describe and getting their breathing and posture straightened out, helped within 2-3 weeks. That would help regardless of what mouthpiece that you play!
