c.nelson has a spectacular aura about
What was your first horn?

My first horn was a student model bach/bundy/selmer cornet.
I remember I walked in to a local brass repair shop and said,
"I want to buy a good student trumpet".
Then some elderly guy came from the back and said,
"you vaunt ze good beguinner horn? zis is very good horn."
He pulled out the wrinkled and dented thing.
"one hundred sixty dollars, laquer dry by friday"
I somehow trusted him, and just said "cool"
and gave him the cash.
when I returned, the horn was totaly repaired ,but later on close examination,
I could see that it had once been nearly squashed flat.
But the old dude was right, and I played it for 3yrs but then traded it, in a stupid fit of hardware freakism.
I wish I still had that tooter.
