Why can't you use a trumpet stand? FWIW I have seen guitar players use a stand that holds the instrument by the "neck" and the weight of the instrument kind of "clamps" it into place. Besides the bell the only other place I see where you could come up with a cost effective way to hold a trumpet is using a mechanism that holds the trumpet by the bell bow.

I'm with Schwab. I have seen this blackburn tuning bell C in person and agree with the rest of his points. Most of these things have all ready been done..
