Chicago is a fun show. The only thing is that you sit on stage on a large tiered bandstand, so you have to wear a tux. But you get a great view of the action! As I recall, yeah, there's a load of mute changes, bring 'em all, including solotone, and flugelhorn. The book is very well written, lots of independence between the parts, little solos here and there (all written out). I remember one weird marking that said "Stravinsky growl" - wasn't quite sure what he was referring to...? Anyway, you should really enjoy this show. The Broadway scene here in South Florida has dried up a lot, thanks to self-contained shows and reduced orchestrations. Be glad you're working! Good luck!
