Re: New Trumpet Student

One of the great classes I took under Gerald Webster was a methods class. We played through and sort of analysed the way a bunch of methods and technique books were set up. This way, with a new student, we can choose between a method for "grown up" 8th graders (like Mitchell) or "just wanna have fun" 8th graders, (like Yamaha). The first lesson (or first few) can be done without the music, giving you time to get a feel for your student. If you are needing some more credits, this would make an outstanding independent study project. Good luck!
