At the Yamaha Trumpet Day in NYC a couple of weeks ago (Wilmer was there), Yamaha actually asked a couple of guys to stop the ffff cc's because it was bothering everyone in the room. I think that's quite approriate and if someone needs to hear that volume, they should go to an isolated room.
It really drives some people away from the big trumpet events. The exhibitor's who have to stay in the rooms all day go home at night with splitting headaches and their ears ringing.
Wouldn't it be nice if everyone at these events started by playing Misty, then some Clarke Studies, and then Haydn, etc. to see how the horn sounds and responds? Maybe I'm in Fantasy Land.
