In the few times that I've done the entire Messiah, I've done it on pic........however the very first time that I did just "The Trumpet Shall Sound" (about 24 years ago) it was on a D trumpet that I borrowed from Peter Archer. I'm starting to feel that the piece overall doesn't speak as well on pic as I remember it on the D.
It's easy for the pic to get buried with a full chamber orchestra, Organ, choir and soloists....especially when the room is working against you acoustically.
My kids have always thought that Dinosaurs were cool.......I'll join you on this one.
