Kozbob,
the beat is the basic pulse. Even after you record a cut like this, you need to tap your foot to it and see if the beat is constant. Especially when you start to play with a jazz rhythm section, they get into a groove and your playing has match that time.
Your choice of notes is good. I did not vote because I do not think that those choices qualify. You are working hard to become a great soloist and THAT is the most important thing here.
