I just bought a new horn (Zeno) and want to put up my Bach 43 lightweight bell up for sale (Serial ML 97328). Because of the serial, I know it was either made in the '70s or '80s. The bell was damaged and instead of replacing it or trying to repair it -- I thought the owner might be the best person to make the decision what to do.

The horn still plays well and the body and condition outside the bell is in excellent condition. I would like to put it up for auction and wonder what my opening bid should be and what might I expect to get for this horn. I don't have the orginal case, but do have an old "olds" case.

I brought it to a very qualified horn repair person and they wanted $600 to replace the bell with a regular weight bell and restore it to it's original silver finish. Likewise, I feel I should let the person that buys the horn have the control of what to do with this instrument. I would appreciate some help in this matter.
