Dear Friends:
Last June I traveled to Oederan, Germany, near Dresden, and purchased two awesome instruments from Ricco Keuhn. The horns are pictured below.
One is a rotary fleugelhorn mit kranz - the first ever made by Ricco with a kranz on the brass bell. The other rotary is a C trumpet/large goldbrass bell with kranz - both gold plated as you can see. Both horns produce a nice full sound - the C trumpet has a noble brilliant sound that is dark and rich in character. The rotary valve action is extremely quiet and smooth.
Ricco is extremely kind and personable. He really listens to his customers' comments seriously and pays great attention to detail.
Derek Reaban had a chance to briefly try them out when we played together at a Thanksgiving Eve church service a few days ago at Christ's Greenfield Lutheran Church in Gilbert, Arizona. He'll probably write his thoughts later.
Bis dann und Alles Gute,
Timothy Moke
