Every time I hear him I want to practice more. - The Wise One

Every time I hear him "In The Court Of King Oliver" I pause and say to myself:
Oh,What A Wonderul World we live in.
Happy Birthday WM and keep on keeping on.

Where were we?
Oh yeah,Wynton,Live recordings and all that Jazz.

First,greetings to all the trumpet masters,practitioners,students and listeners like myself.
Brek,I just pushed away to retrieve that 7 CD box set and play "In the sweet Embrace of Life."
It is indeed a splendid recording and recently I find myself listening and purchasing more 'Live' recordings over studio recordings.

McCoy Tyner's Dec 2006 appearance at Yoshi's in Oakland,Ca and his remake of "Walk Spirit,Talk Spirit" featuring Joe Lovano on Tenor is a gem.
Joe was brilliant and played like a man much possessed.

The other gem recently released was a 1993 recording of Dr.Billy Taylor & Gerry Mulligan at the Manchester Craftsmen's Guild here in Pittsburgh,Pa where I can be heard in the cheering section.

On October 20,I caught Brian Lynch and Conrad Herwig and those cats turned in a stellar performance.

On Nov 3,the University of Pittsburgh held its 37th Annual Jazz Concert and the trumpet section included: Jon Faddis;Randy Brecker and Claus Reichstaller billed as Europe's #1 Trumpet player.
The trumpet section was cooking with high heat and Jon was the crowd favourite with the ease he played his high C's.
There was an English gent,Peter King on Alto Sax and this cat is a force to reckon with.

Walk tall and Keep on tootin'.
