I'm sure either "The Wise One" or another South Philidialphian who is known for his "Plenty Of Horn" (Ted Curson) can provide an answer.
Your post reminds me of another budding trumpet player,Lonnie Hillyer of the '60s who played in the lofts of NYC and who passed during the '80s.
