I had a chance to play on the prototype C that Schilke built for Yamaha, and it played like a dream, gently "wrapping" each note the way Schilkes do; Ed Tarr is pleased with his A and Bb by Yamaha. Yamaha's A/Bb/C combo is a compromise, with the C being the best, and they feel to me like they have little to no core--like sticking a mouthpiece into a bell. If they started selling a dedicated C piccolo they might have more luck.
