| Re: old horns and new music Hi Dale,
yeah, he sure does sound good. --I really appreciate your comments about antique horns. Having no experience with them, it helps to hear your informed thoughts.
To Tom and Bill,
I am looking for new sounds--different ways to approach new challenges and sonorities for unconventional collaborations(with electronic or acoustic musicians).
I'm a student, so I have been thinking that an older instrument would kill two birds with one stone(if I were to cross a playable horn). I'd get my #1. unique sound #2. in my price range. It seems the consensus is that it would be more practical to acquire a range of tools to help address my interests(a curry mouthpiece or some more mutes) or have a look at some more affordable cornets like the eastman Bb. This totally makes sense to me.--but just for kicks I'll keep my eye out on craigslist, for what pops up in the LA area.
I appreciate everyone's input and will continue to watch from DC,
best in the new year,
-chris
